In order to know exactly what a plumber is equipped to help you with, it can be beneficial to find out what they do on a day-to-day basis. A plumber can help you in so many ways but how long will the job take?

Day in the life of a plumber

Now don’t think a plumbers day is easy? It’s not a walk in the park. Let McLellan Plumbing and Heating take you through a typical day of your local plumber…

  • Drain blockages and leaky pipes

Leaking pipes are also fairly common and are likely to crop up a few times in a plumber’s working week. This is likely to be a relatively easy fix if the problem has been handled early on, however, it’s important to know that if ignored, leaking pipes can burst. Repairing or replacing a burst pipe is bound to take a while and is likely to be more costly, so it’s important to get those pipes seen to as soon as possible.

  • Boiler Installations

New boiler installations can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days depending on the job. If it’s a straightforward like-for-like boiler swap, the work is bound to be quicker than if you’re having a completely new system installed. A complex boiler installation or a job with lots of hurdles to overcome can take up a plumber’s entire day or perhaps more.

  • Appliance Installations

Quite often plumbers will be asked to install washing machines or dishwashers – although relatively straightforward it is often better to get a qualified plumber to do it, therefore avoiding a flooded kitchen!

  • Emergency Repairs

Plumbing disasters happen all the time so always remember that McLellan Plumbing & Heating are on call 7 days a week and provide Emergency Plumbers round the clock and throughout the Edinburgh and Glasgow area.
